Introduction
Google Automated Discounts is an AI-based repricing tool from Google. As an official Google partner for Automated Discounts, we offer Shopware and PrestaShop users a free 30-day trial.
With Automated Discounts, Google's AI calculates the optimal selling price for a product based on competitor prices, the sales success of a product at a certain price, seasonality, the user's willingness to buy and purchasing power, the retailer's margin, and numerous other factors. This results in a margin-optimized price for each product that boosts sales.
The calculated prices are displayed exclusively in Google Shopping ads (Google Performance Max). When a user clicks on a corresponding ad, they are redirected to the shop. The repricing.com plugin sets the sales price calculated by Google for this user in the shop frontend and ensures that the user-specific price is correctly transferred to order processing in the shop system.
The Pro version of Automated Discounts developed by repricing.com makes it easier to access and use Automated Discounts and gives retailers full control over the selection of products that participate in Automated Discounts. Products are conveniently selected using dynamic product groups based on product attributes, performance data from Google Ads, and forecast data for Automated Discounts. The various attributes for product selection can be combined as desired.
To use this feature, the corresponding plugin must be installed in the shop backend. The plugin is used to create an account with repricing.com.
Automated Discounts Pro from repricing.com offers the following features:
Setup Wizard guides you through the entire setup process.
Automatic provision of the required data feed attributes in Google Merchant Center
Validation of selected products and troubleshooting assistance
Setting up the special conversion tracking required for Automated Discounts in the online store
Provision of forecast data on the performance of Automated Discounts at product level when adopting Google's recommended prices (increase in conversions, development of advertising costs, etc.)

4. Conversion Tracker
Automated Discounts requires customized conversion tracking, known as "Google Ads Conversion Tracking with Shopping Cart Data (CwCD)". In this step, you can install this special tracking feature in your shop using the plugin.
The prerequisite for this is that a standard conversion tracker is available in your Google Ads account. This is imported, adapted for Automated Discounts, and placed in the shop via the plugin. Information on creating a standard Google Ads conversion tracker can be found here.
Click Select tracker if you have already set up Google Ads conversion tracking in your Google Ads account. Select the desired tracker from the list and click Next.
If you have already installed the specially adapted conversion tracking for Automated Discounts in your shop, click Skip.
Products selection
With Automated Discounts Pro, you can determine exactly which products should be discounted. To do this, create a product group with the desired products. Within the group, you can use and combine various filters to select the products. In combination with the forecast data for Automated Discounts, you can, for example, select only those products for which a discount appears particularly promising in terms of increasing conversions. Alternatively, you can also activate Automated Discounts for all products contained in the account.
Only discount certain products
Click Create Group.
A pull-down menu offers all product attributes from the shop, performance data from connected advertising platforms, and Google forecast data for Automated Discounts as filters for product group creation.
Add the desired filters, set and configure them according to your need. Filters can be combined with AND or OR.
Example: To select only products for which an increase in conversions of at least 50% is predicted through Automated Discounts, proceed as follows:
Open the Competitors and Prices section in the drop-down menu selection list and select Conversions predicted change:
Enter the desired value for the increase in percent in the Attribute field, in this example 50.
Click Save.
The product group you created, along with the number of products it contains, is displayed for verification. Click Next.
NOTE: This product group filter only selects products for participation in Google Automated Discounts where, according to forecasts, the number of conversions will increase by at least 50% by adopting the price recommended by Google. You can supplement the forecast data filter with other filters, such as brand, inventory, etc., or use completely different filters to create the product group.
Products eligibility
This step checks whether the products selected for Automated Discounts meet the requirements. For each product, it validates that valid values are available for the data feed attributes cost of goods sold (COGS) and minimum price limit (auto_pricing_min_price). The minimum price attribute controls whether a product participates in Automated Discounts. repricing.com sets this attribute according to your specifications and automatically uploads it to Google Merchant Center.
If a product falls outside the product group you have created for participating products, repricing.com removes the minimum price attribute for that product and deactivates it for Automated Discounts. You also use this attribute to tell Google the maximum price reduction allowed.
For both attributes, cost price and minimum price, a value can be calculated in repricing.com and transferred to Google. If you maintain a purchase price for the products in your shop system, this is imported and is available as the cost of goods sold value. repricing.com checks whether one or both attributes already exist and then offers to calculate missing attributes and upload them to Merchant Center.
Example: From all previously selected products, 474 products don't meet one of Google's requirements for Automated Discounts. The auto_min_price attribute exists, but for these products it's not within the allowed range of 5-95% of the current product price. This is displayed accordingly:
You can set valid values using repricing.com:
You can now setup a rule that calculates correct values for auto_min_price, e.g. based on your cost_of_goods_sold attribute.
Cost of goods
A dialog box opens. Since the cost price already exists in this example, "Nothing to fix here" is displayed.
Click Next.
Auto pricing min price
Three options are offered to supplement the missing minimum price:
Calculation of the minimum price as a percentage surcharge on the existing cost of goods sold attribute
Calculation of the minimum price as a discount in percent of the current product price
Advanced: Obtaining the minimum price from an attribute in the shop system by mapping it to the corresponding shop system attribute that contains the auto_min_price using the repricing.com data feed manager functionality
This example shows how the minimum price is calculated as a percentage markup on the existing cost of goods sold value (option 1).
Select Use a percentage increase to the [cost of goods sold] to determine missing [auto_pricing_min_price]:
Enter the value for the percentage markup on the cost price. This will be used to calculate the minimum price for Automated Discounts.
Click Next.
Click Apply fixes in the summary that appears.
The products selected for Automated Discounts will now be re-evaluated for suitability. Click Update now.
The minimum price previously calculated by rule is now uploaded to Google Merchant Center. repricing.com generates a supplementary data feed in Merchant Center containing the product IDs of the selected products and the calculated values, and links this feed to the existing main product data feed.
This completes the setup. Please log in to your Google Merchant Center and request a review and approval by Google under Automatic Discounts.
